Relive the classic couch co-op experience with Minecraft! This guide shows you how to play split-screen Minecraft on your Xbox One or other compatible console. Gather your friends, grab some snacks, and let's get started!

Important Considerations:

  • Console Only: Split-screen functionality is exclusive to consoles (Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch). PC players are out of luck for this particular feature.
  • HD Resolution: Ensure your TV or monitor supports at least 720p HD resolution, and that your console is configured to output this resolution. HDMI connection is recommended; VGA connections may require manual resolution adjustment in your console's settings.

Local Split-Screen Gameplay (Up to 4 Players):

  1. Connect your console: Use an HDMI cable to connect your console to your TV.
  2. Launch Minecraft: Start Minecraft and choose to create a new world or load a saved one. Crucially, disable the multiplayer option in the game's settings.
  3. Configure your world: Select your difficulty, game mode, and world settings. If loading a saved world, skip this step.
  4. Start the game: Press the "Start" button (or equivalent) to begin the game.
  5. Add players: Once the game loads, add additional players using the appropriate button on your console controller (e.g., "Options" on PlayStation, "Start" on Xbox). You'll typically need to press this button twice.
  6. Player login: Each player logs into their account to join the game. The screen will automatically split into sections (2-4 players).
  7. Enjoy! Start playing!

Online Multiplayer with Local Split-Screen:

While you can't directly split-screen with online players, you can combine local split-screen with online multiplayer. Follow steps 1-3 above, but enable the multiplayer option before starting the game. Then, send invitations to your online friends to join your game.

Minecraft's split-screen mode offers a fantastic way to enjoy the game with friends. Get ready for some epic adventures!
