Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed hidden encounters within the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent stat boosts, extra passive skill points, and even weapon skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. However, this encounter is easily missed. This guide details its location and activation.
Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan
The Sisters of Garukhan shrine appears in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel of the Spires of Deshar map. Interacting with it grants the +10% Lightning Resistance buff. Its understated icon on the map makes it easily overlooked.
Map generation in PoE 2 is randomized, so there's no guaranteed location within Spires of Deshar. Thorough exploration is key. Look for a shrine resembling the image above. Approaching and interacting with it activates the buff. Be prepared for combat; dormant automatons will awaken and attack upon activation. Activating the shrine triggers all automatons on the map.
A helpful tip: If you reach a checkpoint before finding the shrine, fast travel back to it to avoid unnecessary combat.
Claiming the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff
The +10% Lightning Resistance is applied instantly upon interaction with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; it's an immediate effect.
The Sisters of Garukhan encounter is repeatable in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine twice grants a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.
Troubleshooting: Why the Buff Doesn't Seem to Apply
Many players find the resistance buff confusing. Even after activating the shrine, the resistances menu might show negative values.
This is due to a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances applied after each Act (Chaos Resistance remains unaffected). Therefore, completing the Sisters of Garukhan in Act 2 neutralizes the Act 1 debuff, resulting in a net zero Lightning Resistance. In Act 2 Cruel, the buff partially offsets the cumulative debuff.
To verify the buff's effect, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance total indicates that you have successfully obtained the buffs.
