Expedition Mechanics & Detonation
Expeditions are marked on the Atlas with a light blue spiral icon. An Expedition Precursor Tablet placed in a completed Lost Tower slot guarantees an Expedition encounter. Upon entering a map, locate the central area with markers and an NPC.
The core mechanic involves strategically placing Explosives near Markers to spawn Runic Monsters and Excavated Chests.
- Runic Monsters: Spawn near Red Markers; larger markers yield larger packs. Their power is amplified by Unearthed Remnants.
- Unearthed Remnants: Relics offering beneficial or detrimental modifiers (e.g., increased elemental damage but higher item rarity from chests).
- Excavated Chests: Spawn near Black Markers with the spiral symbol; contain Artifacts, Logbooks, currency, Waystones, and gear.
Use the Explosives UI to visualize AoE. Avoid overlapping circles for optimal farming. Detonate Explosives via the Detonator. If overwhelmed, retreat and return later; the event persists.
Expedition Pinnacle Map
Runic Monsters and Chests have a chance to drop Expedition Logbooks. Use these with Dannig in your Hideout to access the Expedition Pinnacle Map. This map offers significantly more Explosives and a chance to encounter Olroth, the Pinnacle Boss (indicated by a skull on the minimap).
Defeating Olroth awards 2x Expedition Passive Skill Tree points.
Expedition Passive Skill Tree
Located in the Atlas Passive Skill Tree, the Expedition tree enhances rewards and difficulty. Points are earned by defeating Olroth. Increasing map difficulty is necessary to unlock new nodes.
