Max has unveiled an exciting new trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, which significantly enhances its ties to the Superman universe by introducing key characters like Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner right from the opening scene.
The trailer begins with Sean Gunn portraying Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl conducting a dismissive interview with John Cena's character, Peacemaker, for a potential spot on a superhero team. The interview quickly turns sour, leaving Peacemaker visibly dejected as he storms out.
These scenes offer the first glimpses of these supporting characters, who are also slated to appear in James Gunn's upcoming Superman movie.

Peacemaker Season 2 is set to premiere on August 21, following the release of Superman on July 11, marking it as the third installment in the new DCU, after the Creature Commandos TV series which debuted late last year.
James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran are steering the DC franchise into a fresh cinematic universe, distancing it from the critically panned DC Extended Universe, which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, certain elements from the old universe will persist.
Peacemaker serves as a prime example of this continuity, having started in the DCEU with Season 1, and now transitioning into the new DCU with Season 2.
James Gunn has emphasized that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though the specifics of what will carry over from the DCEU to the DCU are yet to be fully disclosed. He has confirmed that all members of Team Peacemaker will return with the original cast, including John Cena as Peacemaker, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.Furthermore, Gunn has stated that the series will be set after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's events directly impacting Peacemaker's storyline.
