PlayStation Productions Unveils Ambitious Slate of Game Adaptations at CES 2025
PlayStation Productions made a significant splash at CES 2025, announcing a wave of new game adaptations set for release in 2025 and beyond. The January 7th presentation showcased a diverse range of projects, demonstrating the studio's expanding reach in the world of video game adaptations.
New Adaptations Announced:
- Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Anime Series: A new anime series based on Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, produced by Crunchyroll and Aniplex, will premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll in 2027. Takanobu Mizumo will direct, with Gen Urobuchi handling story composition. Sony Music will contribute to the music and soundtrack.
- Horizon Zero Dawn and Helldivers 2 Films: Asad Qizilbash (Head of PlayStation Productions) and Ashley Brucks (President of Screen Gems) revealed upcoming film adaptations of Horizon Zero Dawn (produced by Sony Pictures) and Helldivers 2 (produced by Columbia Pictures). Details remain scarce.

PlayStation Productions has a history of successful video game adaptations, including the Uncharted film (2022) and the Gran Turismo film (2023), both of which exceeded box office expectations. The Twisted Metal series (2023) on Peacock, while less critically acclaimed, completed production on its second season in late 2024 (release date pending).
The studio also has ongoing projects, including films based on Days Gone and a sequel to the Uncharted film, as well as a God of War TV series.
