Conquer the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide
Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord residing in Oakheart Highcourt's maze within the Rinascita region. This guide details how to overcome this formidable foe.
Locating the Lifer
The Lifer is situated at the maze's heart, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance is located southwest of the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Players can climb the walls or utilize the Flight function to reach it.
The Lifer Board Game
Inside, players encounter a board game with six pieces. The goal is to connect three pieces before the Lifer does. Manipulating the black pieces affects the maze's walls: placing a black piece on the outer circle opens walls and gates in that direction. Exiting preserves piece positions. While not mandatory for combat, the board game is crucial for buff removal. Avoid winning before debuffing the Lifer, as it immediately initiates combat.
Removing the Lifer's Buffs
The Lifer possesses seven buffs; four are removable using Stakes of Imbalance, while three are permanent. Buff information is displayed on a yellow module behind the Lifer.
Removable Buffs (Fragility):
- Growing Loneliness: HP recovery (10% Max HP/second) after 2 seconds without attack.
- Desire for Escape: ATK increase (25%) and additional DMG increase (25%) every 20 seconds.
- Impending Stalemate: ATK increase (20%) per DMG instance, stacking up to 4 times (resets after 6 seconds without DMG).
- Decay of Time: 200% resistance to all elemental damage types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc) and 25% Max HP increase.
Permanent Buffs (Stability):
- Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
- Endless Game: 50% reduction in Immobilization duration.
- Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP damage in a single hit.
Obtaining Stakes of Imbalance
Use the Sensor near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the corresponding gates. Each room contains a winged statue and a Stake of Imbalance (white glow). One room requires defeating Tacet Discords, another involves breaking Friable Rocks, and one is simply on a table. Place the Stake in the module near its statue to remove the associated buff. A yellow line indicates a removed buff.
Defeating the Lifer
After removing all four removable buffs, engage the Lifer. Winning the board game or selecting "Fight it out!" initiates combat. The debuffed Lifer is significantly weaker. Victories reward Premium and Basic/Standard/Advanced Supply Chests (rewards vary by victory count). Buffs can be re-enabled for a more challenging fight, though no achievements are tied to this.
Lifer Achievements
- The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
- The Ring of The Lifer: Defeat the Lifer three times for all nine chests.
- Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
- Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.
For the board game, focus on preventing the Lifer from creating a line; it will eventually make a mistake.
