Wuthering Waves' elemental system has evolved significantly with Version 2.0. Initially, elements provided character buffs and enemy resistances, but lacked deep team synergies. Version 2.0 introduces Elemental Effects, allowing for more direct interactions beyond passive buffs.
Elemental Effects: Status Effects and Debuffs
Elemental Effects, previously limited to enemy application, now directly impact players. Each element has a unique status effect:

| Spectro Frazzle | Stacks decrease to deal Spectro DMG. More stacks = more damage over time. |
| Fusion Burst | Stacks up to 10, exploding at max stacks for significant Fusion DMG. |
| Aero Erosion | Deals Aero DMG periodically; stacks don't deplete with damage. More stacks = more damage over time. |
| Electro Flare | Reduces ATK based on stacks (1-4: -5%, 5-9: -7% + Magnetized effect, 10: -10%). |
Resonators, Echoes, and Echo Sets Interacting with Elemental Effects
Currently, the utilization of Elemental Effects via Resonators and Echoes is limited.
Resonators Applying Elemental Effects:
Only Spectro Rover, post-Version 2.0 rework, can apply Elemental Effects. Its Resonance Skill's Resonating Spin variant applies Spectro Frazzle, and the Shimmer effect prevents stack decay, allowing sustained effect buildup.
Echoes and Echo Sets:
Currently, only one Echo set benefits from Elemental Effects, primarily for Spectro Rover:
- Eternal Radiance (Echo Set): 2pc: +10% Spectro DMG. 5pc: Spectro Frazzle inflicts +20% Crit. Rate (15s); 10 stacks grant +15% Spectro DMG Bonus (15s).
- Nightmare (Echo): Mourning Aix deals 273.60% Spectro DMG; DMG vs. Spectro Frazzle-inflicted enemies increased by 100.00%; +12.00% Spectro DMG Bonus.
While the game shows potential for wider Elemental Effect integration, its current application remains niche, primarily focused on Spectro Rover and the Eternal Radiance Echo set.
