Atelier Resleriana’s Upcoming SpinoffForgoes Gacha System

Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & The White Guardian, an upcoming spinoff title, will lack a gacha system, unlike its mobile predecessor, Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, as declared on Twitter(X) by Koei Tecmo Europe on November 26, 2024.

Koei Tecmo made a key announcement that the new Atelier Resleriana game will exclude a gacha system. In many gacha games, players will inevitably encounter a barrier requiring farming or purchases to advance. Therefore, players needn't purchase gems to unlock characters or potent items.

Aside from lacking a gacha system, the announcement also stated that the game "can be played offline" without needing its mobile precursor. The game’s website also noted that, "New protagonists and an original storyline await in Lantarna," suggesting that the game shares the same world but not the previous characters and their backstory.

Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian will launch on PS5, PS4, Switch, and Steam in 2025. Koei Tecmo has yet to disclose the price, release date, or time.

Atelier Resleriana Won't Have Gacha

Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator is a core title in the Atelier series, incorporating a gacha system. This game underpins the forthcoming Atelier Resleriana game.

While retaining the established Atelier series formula, encompassing the synthesis system and turn-based combat, this game integrates a gacha mechanic requiring in-app purchases to enhance or acquire new characters.

A "spark" system is implemented in its gacha mechanics, as players can acquire various numbers of medals per pull to unlock a character or a Memoria, illustration cards depicting famous scenes from the Atelier series. Players must expend a specific number of gems per pull and accumulate medals to claim their reward. This system deviates from the pity mechanic, which guarantees a drop after a predetermined number of pulls.

This game launched in January 2024 on Steam, Android, and iOS. Currently, it holds a Mixed review rating on Steam, while it boasts a 4.2/5 score on Google Play and 4.6 on the App Store. Despite the high positive review scores on its mobile iteration, some Steam players experience issues with the game, such as its costly gacha mechanic.
