Rumor: Rocksteady Studios is developing a new Batman game

Author : Alexis Feb 17,2025

Reputable gaming journalist Jason Schreier reports that the celebrated Rocksteady Studios is developing a new, single-player Batman game.

Specifics remain limited; Schreier hasn't confirmed if it's a prequel, a sequel to the Arkham series, or a completely separate storyline. However, a source suggests Rocksteady is creating a Batman Beyond title, transporting players to a futuristic Gotham City. Their goal? An ambitious trilogy. The game's release is anticipated on next-generation consoles.

The Arkham series was lauded for its stunning graphics, and a futuristic Gotham setting could be Rocksteady's most visually impressive project yet. The Batman Beyond shift also addresses a significant challenge: Batman's voice. Following the passing of Kevin Conroy in 2022, the studio might focus on Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne, mirroring Warner Bros. Montreal's plans for their canceled Batman: Arkham Knight sequel.

Rocksteady's previous endeavor faced difficulties – their online shooter didn't resonate with players, leading to the project's failure. Post-launch plans were abandoned within a year, concluding the narrative with a hastily produced animated sequence that retconned controversial plot points, revealing that seemingly deceased heroes were actually clones.

Rocksteady is now returning to its strengths, creating a new solo Batman experience. However, sources caution that the project is still several years from release.
