Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet promises to offer players a significantly more immersive experience than the studio's previous projects. Drawing inspiration from Elden Ring, the developers aim to incorporate similar mechanics that enhance open-world exploration. Journalist Ben Hanson has shared that the game will unfold on a single expansive planet, where players will delve into the mysteries of a long-lost civilization and explore a new religion, which plays a central role in the narrative. While it's not yet clear how closely the game will adhere to traditional open-world concepts, it's clear that the developers are steering away from the linear structures seen in their past titles.

In a groundbreaking move, The Heretic Prophet will be the studio's first project to feature a lone protagonist, without companions or allies. Neil Druckmann emphasizes the studio's goal to evoke a profound sense of solitude within an uncharted universe, while also deeply exploring themes of faith and religion. The story is set in an alternate future on the planet Sempiria, isolated from the rest of the galaxy for over 600 years, where bounty hunter Jordan Moon arrives on a mission.

Druckmann also highlights that the game's development has been influenced by titles like Half-Life 2 and Monkey Island. This suggests a shift toward a narrative style where players piece together the story through fragmented clues, rather than relying on traditional hints.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was unveiled at TGA 2024, but a release date has yet to be announced. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated title.
