PlayStation Plus Extends Benefits with Five Free Days

Sony addressed the nearly day-long PlayStation Network (PSN) outage this past weekend, attributing it to an unspecified "operational issue" in a social media statement. The company offered no further explanation of the problem's root cause or preventative measures.

To compensate PlayStation Plus subscribers, Sony will automatically add five extra days to their subscriptions.

Gamers experienced widespread disruption throughout the outage. Over one-third reported login failures, while others encountered server crashes.

Sony's requirement of a PSN account, even for single-player PC games, has drawn criticism, and this outage has fueled those concerns.

This isn't the first major PSN disruption. A significant data breach in April 2011 resulted in over 20 days of connectivity issues. While less severe, the recent outage has left PS5 users frustrated by Sony's lack of detailed communication.
