The Exit 8 has made its way to Android, offering a unique blend of elements for gamers. Developed by Kotake Create and published by Playism, this game is available for $3.99. It's not just a walking simulator; it's a thrilling experience with an eerie twist that keeps you on your toes with every step.
A Creepy Walking Adventure
In The Exit 8, you navigate through an endless underground passageway reminiscent of a Japanese metro station. You find yourself trapped in a loop where the tiles, lights, posters, and even a solitary man walking towards you endlessly repeat. The challenge lies in spotting anomalies—perhaps a poster with a different image, flickering lights, or even something as stark as a river of blood replacing the floor. The game's core mechanic revolves around identifying these subtle changes and reacting swiftly.
If you notice something unusual, you must turn back. If not, you continue forward. The objective is to reach the eighth exit without any mistakes, which means correctly identifying and responding to eight consecutive anomalies. Fail to do so, and you'll have to start over.
The Exit 8 Lets You Soak in a Surreal, Unsettling Atmosphere
The game's design draws inspiration from the concept of liminal spaces and the Backrooms, with settings modeled after real Japanese metro stations like Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Station in Tokyo. This influence creates a claustrophobic and repetitive atmosphere that enhances the game's unsettling feel.
The Exit 8 engages you actively with your environment, urging you to scrutinize every detail for signs of danger or shifts in reality. This constant questioning of your memory and perception makes each playthrough uniquely nerve-wracking.
Originally released for PC in November 2023, The Exit 8 took about nine months to develop. Following its launch, it garnered 1.4 million downloads worldwide on Steam. Now available on mobile, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
