Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his upcoming real-time strategy (RTS-lite) game, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This new title serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's successful 2020 release, Herodom. A part-time developer, Frenken has dedicated approximately two years to Battledom's development, a project he describes as closely aligned with his initial vision for Herodom.
Battledom offers players the freedom to maneuver units across the battlefield, utilizing RTS-style combat mechanics. Engage enemies from a distance, manually controlling siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic formations are also a key element, adding a layer of tactical depth to the gameplay.
Build your army by spending in-game currency to recruit new units. Initially, these units are equipped with only basic weapons and lack armor. However, you can enhance their capabilities by crafting and equipping them with a range of weapons and armor pieces. Each item directly influences unit stats such as attack power, range, accuracy, and defense.
Resource gathering is essential. Instead of finding items during exploration, you'll need to craft them within your village. Collect resources such as wood, leather, and coal, then visit specialized crafters like the blacksmith or magician to create the necessary equipment.
Frenken is widely recognized for Herodom, which currently holds a 4.6-star rating on the App Store. This game features over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically-inspired battles. Progression unlocks new character customizations, as well as crops and animals for your in-game farm.
