Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley has expressed that while he is not ready to make any official announcements about Evil Genius 3, he remains open to the idea. The franchise is deeply cherished by Kingsley, who is currently exploring innovative ways to elevate the series to new heights.
Kingsley highlighted that the theme of world domination, central to the Evil Genius series, could be expanded beyond the traditional base-building simulator genre into various strategic formats. Although specific projects are still in the early stages of discussion, the development team at Rebellion is brimming with fresh ideas for the franchise's future.
When Evil Genius 2 was released in 2021, it garnered "mostly positive" reviews from critics on Metacritic. However, the reception among the player base was more critical. Despite the sequel's enhanced graphics and efforts to address previous shortcomings, many felt it did not live up to the original. Players were particularly vocal about issues with the global map, the performance of minions, the integrity of various structures, and numerous other elements that seemed to have deteriorated compared to the first game.
