The excitement around the newly released GTA 6 trailer is palpable, and if you missed it, we've delved deep into all the secrets and details it holds. Unfortunately, fans will need to mark their calendars for May 26, 2026, to dive into Lucia and Jason's adventures. But while we wait, let's take a nostalgic journey through the iconic games Rockstar has brought us over the years and rank them for fun!
Since its inception in 1998, Rockstar has crafted over 30 games, giving us legendary series like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which of these gems shines the brightest? Note that this list focuses solely on games developed by Rockstar, excluding titles like LA Noire or Max Payne 2, which they published. I've ranked them using an IGN Tier List, based on my personal enjoyment over the years. Check out my tier list below:
Red Dead Redemption 2 easily claims the top spot in my S-tier, being my all-time favorite game. It's joined by its predecessor and the groundbreaking GTA 5, both of which have redefined the cinematic open-world genre. I also have a special fondness for Max Payne 3's bullet time mechanics and the nostalgia of playing GTA San Andreas at a tender age. At the other end of the spectrum, in the D-tier, you'll find games like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair!, which are, let's be honest, not exactly fan favorites.
Do you disagree with my rankings? Perhaps you believe Vice City outshines GTA 4? Feel free to create your own tier list and see how your S, A, B, C, and D tiers stack up against the IGN community's choices.
