Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 Leak Hints at Free 4-Star Character Selector
A recent leak suggests Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 will include a free 4-star character selector, potentially as part of a limited-time event. This selector would allow players to choose from Qingque, Pela, Serval, or Asta.
This news comes as Honkai: Star Rail's 3.0 update approaches, introducing new gameplay features and characters. While the game boasts 23 4-star characters, many are outclassed by newer units. However, 4-stars can still prove valuable with sufficient Eidolon levels. Previous updates, such as Versions 2.1 and 2.7, offered similar free character selectors, aiding players in acquiring these crucial Eidolons.
The leak, originating from the reputable leaker HomDGCat, indicates the selector will feature Qingque (Quantum, Erudition), Pela (Ice, Nihility), Serval (Lightning, Erudition), and Asta (Fire, Harmony). Interestingly, all these characters were introduced in Version 1.0, with Asta even being gifted early in the game. This fuels speculation that HoYoverse may be prioritizing 5-star character releases, as rumors suggest all upcoming characters will be 5-stars.
The disparity between 5-star and 4-star characters is significant, with nearly 40 5-star units and only 23 4-star units currently available. The upcoming Amphoreus update is expected to add eight more 5-star characters, further widening the gap. A rumored Honkai: Star Rail and Fate/Stay Night crossover could add two more. Considering only four new 4-star characters (including March 7th's alternate form) were released during the 2.0 cycle, future 4-star selectors might lack sufficient new options.
Despite this potential limitation, players anticipate the upcoming Version 3.0 update, which will introduce the highly anticipated characters, The Herta and Aglaea. To prepare players for the influx of new characters, HoYoverse recently released redeem codes for Stellar Jades and materials.
