People Can Fly, the acclaimed developer behind Bulletstorm and a co-developer of Gears of War: E-Day, has recently inked a deal with Sony Interactive Entertainment to work on a new game, codenamed Project Delta. According to a report from People Can Fly, Project Delta is set to be developed as a work-for-hire project, though specifics about the game remain under wraps.
The studio is currently juggling a diverse portfolio of projects, each with its own codename. Among these are Project Gemini, in collaboration with Square Enix, which unfortunately saw a reduction of 30 developers last year; Project Echo, developed alongside Krafton; Project Red, another project seemingly linked with Sony; and Project Bison, a VR project that People Can Fly recently announced would be their last venture into virtual reality.
In recent developments, the studio had to make some tough decisions. Last December, they announced the suspension of work on Project Victoria and a scale-down of Project Bifrost. Earlier in April, they had to cancel Project Dagger, an action-adventure game that was being developed in partnership with Take-Two Interactive.
Despite these setbacks, People Can Fly remains active with a total of eight known projects in development. This includes the highly anticipated Gears of War: E-Day, developed in collaboration with The Coalition, though a release date for this title has yet to be announced. Meanwhile, the game developed with Square Enix, Project Gemini, is slated for a 2026 release.
