Nintendo Switch 2 Features The New C Button
Functionality Will Be Revealed During the Direct
The much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is slated for release in 2025, and with a Direct scheduled for later today, April 2nd, fans are buzzing with excitement about what's next. However, Nintendo might have already given us a sneak peek into the Switch 2 ahead of the upcoming Direct, particularly regarding the mysterious C button.
Nintendo has recently launched a new smartphone app called Nintendo Today, designed to deliver the latest news and game information directly to players. Sharp-eyed fans noticed that the app's listings on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store included promotional images, one of which boldly states, "Get updates on Nintendo Switch 2 news plus game info, videos, comics, and more every day."
Upon closer examination, the image of the Nintendo Switch 2 showcased in the app appears to reveal the final version of the console, complete with its newly designed Joycons and the confirmation of the enigmatic C button on the right Joycon.
In the initial teaser for the Switch 2 released in January, the new button located beneath the Home button was simply a black square without any labeling, sparking speculation among fans about whether it might introduce a new social feature or a new sensor. With the final design now visible on the Nintendo Today app, it's confirmed to be a C button. The exact functionality of this button, however, is expected to be unveiled during the Nintendo Direct later today.
