Rocksteady Studios, the creator of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs in late 2024, impacting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs, which halved the testing team's size.
The studio has struggled throughout 2024 to maintain the game amidst poor reception and substantial financial losses estimated at $200 million by Warner Bros. No further updates are planned for 2025, though servers will remain active.
These cuts weren't isolated to Rocksteady; Games Montreal, another Warner Bros. studio, also experienced significant layoffs (99 employees) in December.
The game's early access release exacerbated the situation. Players encountered numerous bugs, server outages, and even a story spoiler revealed through a game glitch. Negative reviews from prominent gaming publications and widespread gameplay complaints led to a massive 791% surge in refund requests, according to McLuck analytics.
Rocksteady's future projects remain unannounced.
