inZOI Director Teases a Karma System
Deceased Zois Transform into Ghosts, Depending on their Karma Points
On February 7, 2025, inZOI's game director, Hyungjun Kim, took to Discord to share an exciting update about a new Karma system. This system will allow Zois who have passed away to transform into ghosts based on their accumulated Karma points.
Despite inZOI's focus on realism, Kim is introducing a fascinating paranormal twist. He explained, "If a Zoi dies with enough karma points, they move on to the afterlife, but those who don’t make the cut have to remain as ghosts until they restore sufficient karma points." While the exact methods for restoring these points remain undisclosed, the concept adds a unique layer to the gameplay.
Kim stressed the importance of balancing this feature, stating, "We want to keep the playability of ghosts fairly limited so it doesn’t overshadow the main gameplay, but we also want to make sure the experience is engaging enough when it does happen." In the Early Access version, interactions with ghost Zois will be limited to special conversations at set times and under specific conditions.
Looking ahead, Kim expressed his enthusiasm for expanding the game's horizons, saying, "While we’re committed to refining the realistic elements of inZOI first, I’d love to explore more fantasy-driven elements in the future. Occasionally stepping away from the game's native, ultra-realistic setting could add an extra layer of fun to our simulation of this vast and complex concept we call life!"
inZOI Karma Interaction Briefly Revealed
In August 2024, inZOI's publisher, Krafton Inc., collaborated with various content creators to showcase the game. One of these creators, MadMorph, provided a sneak peek into inZOI's Karma system.
Around the fifteen-minute mark of MadMorph's video, he demonstrated a feature called Karma Interactions. This option presents players with a variety of actions that can either boost or diminish their Karma points. For example, MadMorph's character mischievously farted on another Zoi's face, prompting a reaction from the NPC. On the positive side, actions such as "Throw Away Trash" or "Like a Friend’s post" are also available, though not demonstrated in the video.
Kim clarified that while the Early Access version will focus primarily on gameplay with living Zois, the Karma Interactions will play a more significant role in future updates. Fans eager to explore this innovative game won't have to wait long, as inZOI is set to launch in Early Access on Steam on March 28, 2025, just under six weeks away.
