CD Projekt Red recently confirmed the introduction of entirely new regions and monsters in The Witcher 4 during an interview on Gamertag Radio.
The Witcher 4: Exploring Uncharted Territories and Creatures
Stromford and Bauk: A Glimpse into the New World
Following The Game Awards 2024, game director Sebastian Kalemba and executive producer Gosia Mitręga spoke with Gamertag Radio's Parris. They revealed that Ciri's journey will lead players to unexplored parts of the Continent. The village showcased in the recent trailer is named Stromford, a place where a disturbing ritual involving young girls takes place to appease their "god."
This "god," Kalemba disclosed, is a formidable monster called Bauk, inspired by Serbian mythology. He described Bauk as a cunning and terrifying adversary. Furthermore, the game will feature a diverse range of other new monsters.
While enthusiastic about these new elements, Kalemba remained tight-lipped about specifics, promising a fresh and exciting experience within the familiar setting of the Continent.
A subsequent interview with Skill UP on December 15, 2024, confirmed that The Witcher 4's map size will be comparable to The Witcher 3. Given Stromford's location in the far north, it suggests Ciri's adventures will extend beyond the areas explored by Geralt.
Revamped NPCs: Enhanced Interactions and Immersion
The Gamertag Radio interview also highlighted CD Projekt Red's commitment to significantly improving the game's NPCs. Addressing previous criticisms of reused character models in The Witcher 3, Kalemba emphasized the increased diversity and depth of NPCs in The Witcher 4. Each NPC will have their own unique story and life within the game world, creating a more realistic and interconnected community. The developers aim for a more immersive experience where NPCs' interactions are influenced by their relationships and the village setting.
Improvements extend to visual fidelity, behavior, and facial expressions, promising a far more engaging and believable world.
Although details are still scarce, The Witcher 4 promises a significant leap forward in NPC interaction and overall immersion. For more in-depth information about The Witcher 4, be sure to check out our dedicated article!
